Stuermann Scholarship Program
Mrs. Mable B. Stuermann endowed a scholarship program with the Virginia Forestry Educational Foundation to support “rising sophomores who have demonstrated a sincere interest in the management of the forest land base in the Commonwealth of Virginia.” The first Stuermann Memorial Scholarship was awarded in 2000. Typically, four new Stuermann Memorial Scholarships are awarded each year. Scholarships are for $5,000 for three years.
In order to be considered for this scholarship, recipients must be enrolled in Virginia Tech’s Department of Forestry (all majors and options within the department are eligible). Selection is based on academic achievement or potential for superior academic achievement, leadership qualities, and desire to pursue a career within the forestry profession. Financial need is also considered, but it is a secondary consideration. Recipients must continue their enrollment in the Department of Forestry and remain in good academic standing to retain a Stuermann Memorial Scholarship.
