Natural Resource Recreation
The Natural Resource Recreation Program strives to enhance the social benefits of natural resource-based recreation while protecting the biological and cultural resources on which recreation depends. Students work closely with faculty in research and teaching to develop new knowledge and the skill and insight to apply that knowledge in the stewardship of recreation resources. Faculty serve as advisors and regularly do projects for federal, state, profit and non-profit for groups focusing on recreation, parks, and protected areas management. Illustrative program areas include:
- Recreation ecology
- Trail and campsite design
- Public response to management
- Public perceptions of recreation experiences and settings
- Visitor use monitoring and modeling
- Park interpretation and environmental education
