The fifth edition of this popular forestry textbook retains all of the principal topics included in the fourth edition while adding new material on electronic data recorders, electronic distance measurement, global positioning systems (GPS), and geographic information systems (GIS). New tree measurement topics include direct measurement of tree heights with extendable poles and measurement of tree crowns. Material from the previous edition, including references cited at the end of each chapter, has been updated. Answers to selected problems have been added to enable students to readily evaluate their comprehension of the material. In addition, a web page is available to supplement, extend and enhance information in the textbook.
