Current Activities
- Conduct baseline assessments of the percent tree canopy within select localities in Virginia in partnership with the Virginia Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation
- Organize and conduct GPS/GIS workshops to support Workforce Development programs in Virginia (http://www.cpe.vt.edu/gisworkshop/topics.html)
ArcGIS Learners Permit
Objective: Facilitate the adoption of geospatial products by local and state government agencies, and provide initial exposure to geospatial techniques through 1 day hands on workshops in partnership with the Virginia Community College System.
Objective: Facilitate the adoption of geospatial products (GPS receivers) by local and state government agencies, and provide initial exposure to geospatial techniques through hands on workshops in partnership with the Virginia Community College System. In addition, participants learn how to "link" GPS coordinates with digital pictures and other images (this could include pictures taken with a digital camera, or with other digital images such as scanned deeds, historic documents, etc.)
Introduction to ArcPad

- Assisting with Potential Impacts of emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire) on the structure, function, and value of municipal street tree populations in Virginia. Virginia Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation.
