Jeff Kirwan - Professor/Extension Specialist 4-H and Youth Forestry

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Develop youth forestry and wildlife programs throughout Virginia.
  • Provide assistance to 4-H Extension Agents, who deliver educational programs to schools, clubs, special interest groups, and camps.
  • Informal and experiential education, camping and outdoor experiences, involving youth in research

Selected Extension Activities

  • Coordinate the Virginia 4-H pine seedling program.
  • Conduct forestry and wildlife weekend camps for youth.
  • Present in-service seminars for 4-H Extension Agents.
  • Direct state 4-H judging competitions in forestry, wildlife and soils.
  • Provide field services to Extension Agents and 4-H Centers as needed.
  • Serve on state and national 4-H forestry curriculum committees.
  • Organize on-campus forestry and wildlife programs for youth.
